Terms of Service
Last updated: July 26, 2026
Introduction
Welcome to GetFishingEquipment (“we,” “our,” or “us”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of getfishingequipment.com and all of its fishing-gear calculators, guides, and related features (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Acceptance and Changes
By accessing or using GetFishingEquipment, you confirm that you have read and accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which forms part of them. We may update these Terms at any time; continued use after a change means you accept the current version.
Educational Estimates and Gear Guidance
The Service exists to give general, educational estimates and gear guidance. The line-strength, sinker-weight, gear-ratio, leader-length, fish-weight, and rod-power tools apply standard formulas and common angling practice to the values you enter; their results are planning aids, not guarantees of performance or of landing a fish. GetFishingEquipment is not a tackle manufacturer, retailer, or fishing guide. For gear you are about to rely on, follow the manufacturer’s ratings and your own judgement rather than this Service alone.
What the Service Provides
GetFishingEquipment offers, free of charge:
- A fishing line strength selector
- A sinker weight selector
- A reel gear ratio and line-retrieve tool
- A leader length calculator
- A fish weight estimator, and a rod power & action guide
- Educational guides, a Learn section, and an illustrated Angler’s Museum
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.
Your Responsibilities
When you use the Service, you agree to:
- Use the tools in good faith to help plan and select your own tackle
- Enter accurate figures, and check the units — inches, ounces, pounds, feet — before relying on a result
- Follow the ratings on your rod, reel, and line, and take responsibility for how you rig, cast, wade, and fish
- Not attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the Service
- Not use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to infringe others’ rights
Assumption of Risk
Fishing involves real hazards — water, hooks, weather, and boats among them. You use the information on this Service at your own risk and remain solely responsible for your own safety and for deciding whether a given setup is right for your gear and conditions. Always follow local regulations, licensing, and catch limits, and defer to manufacturer ratings and your own experience over anything here.
No Warranty
The Service is provided “as is.” While we aim for accuracy, we make no warranties, express or implied, that calculations are error-free or fit for your particular purpose, and we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, GetFishingEquipment and its suppliers will not be liable for any damages — including lost or broken tackle, a lost fish, or personal injury — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damage.
Intellectual Property
The site’s original text, design, and calculator code are the property of GetFishingEquipment and protected by copyright. Museum and Learn material sourced from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons remains under its original licenses. You may use the tools for personal, non-commercial purposes; you may not copy or repurpose the site’s materials for commercial use without permission.
Third-Party Links and Advertising
The Service may link to third-party sites and displays advertising through networks such as Google AdSense. We do not control or endorse third-party content, and using any linked site or advertised product is at your own risk.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, and you submit to the courts of that jurisdiction for any dispute.
